This frog (or his ancestors) immigrated from a far-away rainforest to the California Academy of Sciences.

It was Saturday in San Francisco, and everyone was out on Market Street. A line around the block to get into a famous burger joint. A column of placid looking christians, including some monks and a few banners proclaiming Jesus' love, heading along the walkway from the UN building, followed creepingly by a police car. A long line of homeless winding up to a food truck blasting old blues tunes. And this guy, marching to the sound of a drum, alongside polar bears and neon coloured foam fish, proclaiming the evil of oil dependence.

As I took this photograph of a smashed street clock on Market Street, a man wobbling by carrying a greasy backpack told me, "They will arrest you for taking pictures of that."

Pataud

This is Pataud, our neighbour while we were in Savel, France. His name means "clumsy," perhaps better translated as "big clumsy puppy paws". He is an example of too much love. The moment you moved to do anything -- reach for your tea, or look out the window -- he interpreted it as an invitation to jump in your lap and like your face and generally wag you into submission.
