Triffids

Yesterday was photo day at Simon Fraser and I had my photo taken professionally. Aside from a slightly jarring premonition as to what I'll look like when I'm really grown up, the experience also provided me with "the secret to photography" as the photographer said: take lots of pictures and leave the camera on manual. I took this shot as an experiment in over-exposure. You can adjust the apparent exposure of a photograph in software after you've taken it, but the results are not at all natural: it just brings up the brightness fairly uniformly. By contrast, overexposing the photo produces this wonderful message-from-god effect that I'm enjoying lately. The light seeps around the edges of things, obliterating lines. These, in case you are wondering, are triffids come to take over my bathroom. The only editing is a crop.
